Our Instructors
Our instructors work independently, offering private and small group lessons for players of all levels.
While lessons can be booked through CourtReserve, we recommend reaching out to the instructor directly first to discuss availability, rates, and lesson formats.
Each coach sets their own pricing and schedule.
Jennifer Hwang-Pang
Jennifer was born and raised in Taiwan. She was an elite swimmer (butterfly) and a competitive tennis player who mostly played against the boys in singles. (A trait she continues with to this day).
When her family emigrated to Texas (you might catch any occasional "Y'all") after high school her sports passion took a back seat to helping at the family restaurant and then earning two engineering degrees from UM. Marriage, kids, Toyota, Ford only allowed for occasional running, yoga and tennis for the next 30+ years.
But recent retirement meant that she could get back to her love of sports and she dove into pickleball two years ago with a passion unknown to mankind! She quickly dusted off her sports talent and made pickleball her new sport. It wasn't long before she was competing and winning at local tournaments. She even won some cash at her most recent event.
With the opening of Varsity Pickleball club, Jennifer got the opportunity to give lessons to others like her who are recently new or recently looking to improve. She is fully PPR certified, the most trust and respect of players, clubs, and facilities nationwide!
When you engage Jennifer for lessons you will be getting an enthusiastic, fun, curious and helpful coach who wants you to succeed as much as you do. Jennifer starts every game with "Good game, have fun." And that is what you will get with her lessons. A good time, fun, and excellent learning!

Now a full-time tennis coach in Ann Arbor, Ian brings that same passion and precision to the pickleball court—his true love.
